ANTI-TERRORISM BILL (NO. 2) 2004: Consideration in Detail

Mr McCLELLAND  (Barton) (5.04 p.m.) —I again indicate very briefly that we accept these amendments. The reason we accept these amendments is that it is appropriate to take out the forensic procedures provisions from this bill and to then deal with those in separate legislation. It is urgent. Tom Sherman has taken the course of writing to the government saying that these are urgent measures that require implementation. We agree with that, and we have offered to facilitate it. This amendment will do that. Again, this is what we say: these specific measures are appropriately dealt with as a separate and discrete piece of legislation.

Question agreed to.
